1 Liberator, The
English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > Liberator, The

6 abolition
7 Garrison, William Lloyd
(1838)English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > Garrison, William Lloyd

8 slavery

They had to work out constitutions which would consolidate the freedom they had achieved. They also had to ensure order and stability, while developing the political structures needed by the newly independent states. The leading figures of these military and political struggles have become heroes both for their own countries, and, collectively, for all of Latin America. They include Simón Bolívar (1783-1830) who was active in gaining independence for Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia; José de San Martín (1778-1850) who fought in Argentina, Chile and Peru; and Bernardo O'Higgins (1778-1842) who was active in Chile and Peru.* * *I adj liberatingII m, libertadora f liberator* * *libertador, - dora adj: liberatinglibertador, - dora n: liberator -
